Pastor Craig Wexler
Pastor Craig is our Senior Pastor who began in early April, 2016. He grew up in Sioux Falls, SD, where he also attended Augustana University. As a religion major, Craig enjoys wrestling with the diverse religious dynamics in our culture today.
Augustana is also where he met his wife, Carmen Wexler, who herself, grew up here in Pierre as a young child. Their two daughters are Elise and Madeleine who constantly keep them on their toes! When not in the church building, you might find Pastor Craig at the firing range working on bullseyes!
Deacon Kris Wollman
Deacon Kris is new to the ministry team of Lutheran Memorial as of October 2019. She grew up on a farm 25 miles north of Huron, but actually spent her senior year of high school in Pierre- graduating from Riggs. Pierre led Kris to Augustana University, an internship at Our Saviors Lutheran which was right across the street from the university, and two summers of camping ministry with Lutherans Outdoors. After majoring in Vocal Music Education, she spent 30 years in Sioux Falls as a youth director, teaching in the public schools, directing choirs, and finding her call in varied ministry areas of the church with worship music leadership as the foundation. She was even Pastor Craig’s worship leader at Holy Cross in Sioux Falls! Kris was commissioned as an Associated in Ministry, now named Deacon, in 2009. In 2013, she was called to Bethlehem Lutheran in Aberdeen where she served as Deacon, Director of Worship and Music.
Kris is the proud mom of two young adults sons: Micah- a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, now living in Minneapolis; and Jordan- a graduate of the University of Minnesota Minneapolis, now living in San Francisco. Kris takes delight in connection with others over a meal, a hike, or a caring conversation… as well as a road trip to someplace she has never been before.
