Rostered Leaders

  • We are excited to welcome Pastor Kent Stillson as one of our interim pastors here at Lutheran Memorial

Church. A South Dakota native, Pastor Kent brings with him over 38 years of pastoral experience, having faithfully served congregations in Montana, Minnesota, and throughout South Dakota.

After retiring from full-time ministry in 2022, Pastor Kent has continued to share his gifts through several interim positions, focusing on leadership, stewardship, and outreach beyond the church walls. He has a heart for confirmation ministry and enjoys supporting both staff and congregation in meaningful ways.

Pastor Kent and his wife Holly were married in 1980 and have three grown children and several grandchildren spread across the country. In retirement, he remains active in service—volunteering regularly in his community, leading on the board for “Sharing the Dream in Guatemala,” and assisting annually at Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City.

We are grateful for the wisdom, experience, and compassion Pastor Kent brings during this season of transition and look forward to walking alongside him in faith.

  • Pastor Jeff Sorenson, serving as Interim Senior Pastor at Lutheran Memorial Church this fall, recently retired from serving the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. He has served South Dakota congregations, and as an Assistant to the Bishop of the SD Synod, since 1983. In ministry, he especially enjoys working to help a congregation be welcoming and hospitable, in worship to know God’s goodness and for it to be engaging for all people, and to honor our commitment at baptism to support the growth in faith of our children. He holds a doctorate in Bible Preaching from Luther Seminary.

Pastor Jeff’s wife Siri is Senior Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

Their daughter Anna is a paralegal in Sioux Falls, son Jorey is an Athletic Trainer at Gustavus Adolphus College in St Peter, MN, son Mike is in Nebraska, three grandchildren in the Aberdeen area – and great-grandson Grayson in Hoven.

He loves most anything outdoors, and has for his lifetime had a herd of beef cattle (that are now what he does in retirement).
